Time to Clear the Closet

Holidays come, Holidays go... So does OVA's. Well, most of them anyway. :p

Strike witches OVA
- I didn’t make it pass the 10 minutes mark and I’m supposed to be a big fan of Strike Witches. Guess not -.-“

Rating: 1-Star
Torrents: Strike-Subs

Inukami (Movie)
- I downloaded this expecting to see white haired fox-man and girl and samurai like setting among other things. Only after 3 minutes did I realize that was InuYasha… Not Inukami! So instead, I got 20 minutes worth of fanservice, bad comedy and a total of 5 minutes worth of watchable scenes that didn’t make my eyes bleed.

Rating: 2-Stars
Torrents: Mendoi & Shinsen

Yurumates
- I have no idea what I expected so much when starting Yurumates. Turned out to be among the hardest animes I’ve had to sit through. It’s been a long time I’ve been so fidgety while watching an anime. Restless enough to do a photoshoot of random items while Yurumates was running.

Rating: 1-Star
Torrents: Frostii

Cybord She (Live Movie)
- Despite having a slow start to mid point; The ending was superb! Seriously! I won't even try to express how good the ending was. I'm not saying it was a happy ending... I'm not saying it's sad either. I'm just saying it's good. Something you would feel as when you listen to Hatsune Miku's - Last night, Good Night

Rating: 4-Stars

Subtitles: Opensubtitles.org

K-On! Special
- Hmm... This is suppose to be funny right?

Rating: 1-Star
Torrents: Chihiro

Kaiketsu Zorori
- Hmm... 1993. Lol. I really wanted to try this out, but just couldn't bring myself to it. Dropped...

Torrents: Alopex

Galaxy Express 999 (Movie)
- I know most animes fans will shun me for this. But I dropped it. Just too old skool for me.

Torrents: Live-Evil

Queen's Blade OVA 02
- Boobs, Boobs and Boobs. -.-"

Rating: 1-Star
Torrents: SubsFuckingWhere

Amored Trooper Votoms - Big Battle (Movie)
- Other than the irritating machine gun sounds which repeats and repeats and repeats at the final battle, I enjoyed this. It still ain't no 4-Stars though. Classic mech battle with damsel in distress. Nostalgic...
Warning: Not recommended for epilepsy viewers. Flash overload at final scene.

Queen's Blade - Ep 6-12 (End)

Photobucket
And now it’s time to continue where we left off. Remember my previous review about how Queen’s Blade had potential? Forget about that. I still believed that it still had the chance to prove its worth. Up till the point just before episode 9’s Miss “Humongous” Cattleya showed up. By then I knew all hope was pointless. Logic has failed, Gravity has lost.
By episode 11, the anime tries to inject some emotions to the storyline, as Reina and Claudette stirs up some past. But why try now, so late in the point of the anime? I don’t know. But it was way too late. I had already been retard-ified.

Out of everyone, it is obvious that Tomoe-san should be queen. No one else was smart enough to sit at the side while so everyone else was battling each other. And Tomoe was the only female who actually showed decency being ashamed when clothing was lost. Others were practically running around naked.

However, my favorite character is not Tomoe though. In fact, the character I liked had the least screen time and is also the most interesting character to me and that is Nowa. She actually brought more depth to the anime than the lead character Reina.

As for some plus points, there were some funny moments which I actually enjoyed in the anime. First was when Nanael angel-san got the wrong goat milk. I laughed a little there. Second was when at the end of the show, they announced Season 2. I laughed a WHOLE lot there. In fact, I’m laughing again now as I think about it while typing this review.

Another plus point, animation was actually very consistent. The artwork for the characters and the coloring was solid. Although average, it wasn’t bad at all. But the battle sequence, urgh! That’s another story. The animations of the battle sequences were already bad enough. They HAD to use repeating scenes! So what do you get? Bad scenes repeating over and over again. Thankfully, most battle end within minutes.

Really can’t help but drop it down to 1-star for a sorry excuse of an ecchi.
Moral of the story: Season 2. HhaHAhaAHhaHA! I’m still gonna try it though. Lol!

Queen's Blade - Ep 1-5

Photobucket
Every 4 years, a competition is held to decide who the next Queen shall be. The contestants need only be older than 12 years. They need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple. There are none. The winner is decided when the opponent flees or can't move anymore. This event is broadcast through many crystal spheres around the continent. And this tournament is called Queen’s Blade. More info: AnimeNewsNetwork.com

So, where do I begin? Lol. Yes, I know this is full-blown ecchi. But I’ll be professional about it and rate it as I do with every anime series. Getting aroused will not affect my ratings, this I promise. So, where was I again? o_0!

Oh my god, episode 1 was a total disaster! I was one click short of dropping this series. The animation was way below average. The action sequence, I’m talking about the fight scenes mind you, was ridiculous! Check out the YouTube video on the bottom part of this post. All I could derive from this episode was that Reina, Elina and Claudette were daughters of a Count and Reina was to succeed his title. Listy is a wanted bandit, and Nanael is one freaking noisy angel. I also learned that you can, apparently, kill she-demons by hugging them so tight that they explode. Again, watch the video below to understand what I’m saying. The only good I found in episode 1 was the ending theme and its music video, showing watercolor styled portraits and paintings. What felt like BGM from a game was actually enjoyable.

But I’m glad I decided not to waste my bandwidth and didn’t delete it after episode 1. Episode 2 actually managed to show some promise. And hope felt like it was hiding around the corner for this series. Animation was heaps better and the characters, though still shallow, actually felt like they could be better developed in later episodes. Tomoe, a Ninja Shrine Maiden, and her companion Shizuka, an x-demonic ninja, were introduced in this episode. Funny thing was, for the first time, a male character had lines and got a role to play in this episode, only to sound gay. There were less fan-service (illusion perhaps?) in this episode and the action sequence was acceptable. As for the ending theme, why-oh-why did they change it? Episode 1’s ending theme was doing fine for me. There was actually some crappy singing in the 2nd ending theme. I think someone has done the impossible; someone actually managed to sound worst than me.

The opening theme reminded me of Shadow Skill. Went well to bring out the mood, but don’t expect fans for the song. Then episode 3 came, and showed me that hope is an illusion. It was another outright crappy episode. Enchidna, a mercenary, was introduced and got into a pit fight with Reina only to take a liking to her. Another excuse for pointless crap.
Episode 4 and 5 was somewhat alright. Barely interesting, but still entertaining to watch. Episode 4 did its goal to help explore Reina and Claudette’s characters and history. And Nanael showed that she was a catalyst for the Queen’s Blade tournament. Instigating fights and having the power to project them through the 50-inch plasma spheres floating in the skies. Episode 5 brought out Menace, a resurrected Queen of the past, and Setra, her scepter, as she tries to gain more slaves through unorthodox manners.
What felt like the worst first episode an anime can have made way for better episodes to come. Perhaps even intentionally. So after 5 episodes where do I stand? I decided to stick with this series as I can’t help but have a feeling that the story might get somewhat interesting, wondering how it will play out as Reina gets stronger.
