Yoichi Karasuma is a strong young samurai who was born and raised in the mountains. One day his father decides to send him to the city to stay with the four Ikuraga sisters so that he can gain valuable life experience, but his first trip into civilization doesn’t go quite as planned. Not only is he late to meet his new hostesses, but he is labelled a pervert and manages to get himself arrested – twice! Now, as he lives at the Ikuraga Dojo with Ibuki, Ayame, Kagome and Chihaya, Yoichi must adapt to his new life at school while accepting the rather violent ‘training’ he receives from Ibuki. After making an enemy of the school delinquent and with a mysterious man after his life, it seems that Yoichi’s quest to gain life experience won’t be so smooth after all!
Source: Anime-planet.comHmm; immediately a “wet shirt” scene at the start of the first episode, now what does that tell you about Asu No Yoichi. By episode 2 it was very clear, “breasts” apparently is going to play a major role in this series. Ibuki can be earfully irritating at times, even if you expected it knowing that’s the character she plays. The nice water flow at the beginning of episode 1 also looked like the anime promised good animation, which viewers will later find out that they’ve been had. Viewers might not be able to find any nice animation but at least you can check out some neat
kanji’s. Lol!
There really isn’t any worthwhile action scenes in Asu No Yoichi, even for an anime which revolves around a samurai and other martial artists. Don’t misunderstand, there are battles all right. Just that all the battles follow the same lame routine. Enemy does their move; Yoichi takes a hit and starts getting serious; he does A special move of his own; Kapow! End of story. Notice that I capitalized ‘A’? It’s because all battles end in 1 move. Sigh.
The mystery of the anime seemed like who the mastermind who wanted Yoichi dead was. Too bad he had nothing to show for it. The ending plot really caught me off guard though, didn’t expect Saginomiya Ukyo (villain of the day) to pull a move like that on Ibuki. That managed to spark my interest up a notch.
Viewers who watched Kuroshitsuji will be surprised when Angela makes an appearance in this anime (:snickers:). Both opening and ending music felt rather bland. Like something you would skip after listening twice. It actually does suit the pace of the anime. Just don’t expect any feet tapping tunes.
Reviewing this after
Akikan is coincidentally good cause where Akikan failed in face expressions, Asu No Yoichi succeeded. There are a lot of scenes in the anime where facial expression of characters helped complete a joke or comic scene and it was done well. Most jokes kept me smiling all round. If you enjoyed the light and easy atmosphere which Strike provided, Asu No Yoichi will fit snugly into your to-watch list. A rather mediocre 3-Stars to add to the list.
