Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk

Photobucket
Six months have passed since Jil and the rest of the gang defeated the monsters on the top of the Tower of Druaga, parting soon after to go their separate ways (as shown in the first series The Aegis of Uruk). The tower has since been renamed to Gilgamesh by the land's king, who has recently exhibited strange behavioral changes. Jil and Fatina now live in the small village of Meskia and try to cope with Neeba and Kaaya's betrayal until one day, they save a girl named Kai from the hands of the evil Lord Uragon. Using her power to show others the future, Kai shows Jil a vision of what’s to come and asked him to take her to the top of the tower to prevent it from happening. Together, Jil and his friends accompany Kai on this adventure, but others, including Lord Uragon, will stop at nothing to thwart their efforts. Source: Anime-planet.com

This anime had me caught in its grapes by the first 10 minutes. This series strongly remains on the path of the original series and continues on with every characters original quest. Hence it wasn’t any surprise that all original characters are kept and also the addition of new characters is welcomed. A good move which makes this series feel like a while new title but also keeping the old effort working, making sure it isn’t going to waste. Since they came up with a winning formula in the first series, why change it right?

The opening music feels refreshing and energetic in a way and the animation for the theme is simply beautiful. The music video matches the opening theme and comes out just awesome.
Too bad the animation during the actually show wasn’t as lively. There was too much dark, faded colors used and it sort of killed the mood. Characters also felt slightly rigid occasionally having unnatural movement postures.

This is the first time I’ve commented on this, but there is a serious case of overusing shadows in this series. First few episodes and you might think it’s attention to detail, but after the whole series, you will just get bored of it. There are shadows in every single scene or might I even dare say every frame!
The final was breathtaking, as I unconsciously held my breath during a few scenes only to notice it after an exciting scene was over. Including another plot after defeating Gilgamesh was a real nice touch to the script.

You will probably notice from the screenshots I posted, but I'm facing a Fatina-complex. Lol!
I’m sorry to say that I can’t really comment on the sound effect as it just so happens I busted my left speaker. So to me, it felt mono-channel all the way. Lol!
