Yeap... Anime3R reaches 1 year old upon midnight. Made a crappy little video to commemorate.
Don't know what's wrong with the audio but what the heck. :p

Something I'd like to mention. I made this video in August/September so there were somethings which were not included in. Shitstorms like the Otaku Elimination Game. And blogger mentions like Phossil, Canime, FaS and NingYo. Since I met you guys after making this vid. :)

Now the "bad" news is. This also marks the last post in Anime3R.For sure! Fickle-minded fool, I am.

Started out Anime3R with the intention of anime blogging and improving my vocabulary. I do believe my vocabulary has improved. Through the course of anime blogging I've expended my control of english and have also learned words like Moe, Trolls, loli, Oppai and DannyChoo. LOL! Words indeed.

When I first started out, I did lack confidence as zzeroparticle mentioned when I drafted a review for his blog.
Well, 1 year has past and now hold my chest up high when someone mentions anime blogging. I know I'm heaps away. But hey! at least now I'm confident. Lol!

Hmm.. What else can I say? Well, simply just want to thank everyone again. But it's not over yet, for me anyway. Lol! I hope everyone enjoyed their stay. And at least had one good read. :)

Seeing how many blogs does this, here are my sorry-ass-excuse for bragging rights.

Saki

Miyanaga Saki is a first year high school girl whose family would get angry if she won the family mahjong games. But losing would also have its consequences. Because of this she develops a new way of playing that allows her to stay on the thin line between winning and losing, the +/- zero score, an almost impossible score. In a game that relies mainly on luck, the +/- zero score is harder than winning, but Saki can achieve this every time. Having always hated the game, her friend from middle school, Suga Kyotoro, forces her to play in the schools mahjong club. Her developed skill and superhuman luck has made her a worthy mahjong opponent, even to the middle schools national mahjong champion.

Throughout the course of the anime, I have learned about Majong, Mahjong, Mahjong. And Boobs. And Penguin. Deciding to share what I've learned, here is a brief summary.

Mahjong is a game played by 4 people. Ideally 4 high school girls.

If situation calls, you can have 1 male player in the game. But that game would suck. Unless you were that male character.

To begin playing Mahjong, players first roll 2D6'es using what seems like the coolest Mahjong table ever.

After that, players will randomly pick up 4 tiles, without regards to the dice roll whatsoever (since they didn't bother explaining it in the anime). Apparently, the dice rolling thing is just for fancy... and maybe Yahtzee.

Then each player take turns and goes around grabbing any tiles they want, followed by discarding another one from their hand (since they didn't bother explaning it in the anime).

Mahjong is apparently a very easy game, seeing how everyone always have good tiles. And is only missing 1 tile to win the game 99% of the time. Players should always wear protective gloves when man-handling the tiles. As Saki has shown, the tiles will often form lightning, fire, flood and ice.

Or, you can do it the cool way. And practice exposing your fingers to the above mentioned elements. That way, when you do draw a winning tile and it lights up with flames, you'd still be able to hold it hard before slamming it down on the Mahjong table. I'm not sure how they do that though (since they didn't bother explaining it in the anime). But when you do it, you'd be so pimping.

Keep repeating the draw and discard stop above until you form something presentable and then say "Tsumo" or "Ron". You will then have won. The amount you have won would be according to the opponents reaction to your tiles. If they are amazed, you will be given more points. If not, measly sum then. I guess... (since they didn't bother explaining it in the anime).

And there you have it, a beginners guide to Mahjong in animes. A simple, fun and entertaining game for you and your family. Definitely a good game for promoting family loving.

If you don't know by now, the above IS NOT a proper way to play Mahjong. It's not even a proper guide. Initially it would have been a 5-Star, I had lots of fun watching this shit. But I decided to drop it a notch, and (since they didn't bother explaining it in the anime) I decided not to explain why either. Lol! Get it?

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class

GA is a class that specializes in the arts at Ayanoi High School. Kisaragi, Nodamiki, Kyoju, Tomokane and Namiko are a group of five friends who have colorful adventures and learn about art techniques.

Lol! I respect the fact that the anime was actually intellectual in the sense that it provided good art notes, facts, tips or what thingamabob you want to call it. Even though I made 3 attempts and still couldn't sit still through episode 6. And the reason I could manage episode 3 to 5 in the first place was because I actually enjoyed the first few seconds of the opening theme.

The part which I couldn't get out of my head. "Hitotsu Hitotsu Hitotsu x10". First 8 seconds of the song.

Basically, watching this reminded me of Maria+Holic, where comedy hits the wrong nerve and irritates instead of entertains. I felt the same thing in GA: Art Class. It was obvious that the anime was "trying too hard". Cranking out line after line after line of chatter. Unfortunately, none was funny to me.

Truth be told, I don't even think viewers my age is anywhere near GA's target audience. If indeed so, let's not even bother with this review. Lol!

Despite me slightly being a pro intellectual-anime (any anime which attempts to educate academically), I'll have to say GA is too boring to pass of as a comedy. Instead, schools could adopt the anime and use it to torture students in detention. Making them sleepy yet not allowing them any. Suffeeerrr!!!! Just as I did!!!

Guin Saga - Best Anime of 2009

The ancient kingdom of Parro has been invaded by the armies of Mongaul, and its king and queen have been slain. But the "twin pearls of Parro," the princess Rinda and the prince Remus, escape using a strange device hidden in the palace. Lost in the Forest of Rood, they are rescued from Mongaul soldiers by a strange leopard-headed man named Guin, who has no memories except for the word "Aurra."

Guin Saga IS OFFICIALLY the Best Anime of 2009. Endorsed, Declared, Appointed and Sworn by NaNeee?!, Anime3R, blur.
When I say "Best" I do mean "nothing can touch it with a 10-foot pole. Not even Koukaku No Regios or Basquash! And I hold both anime titles in very high regards mind you.

How can I make such a bold statement you ask?

Well let's see...
The animation is just slightly above average, nothing to shout about except for the nicely drawn landscapes. The action sequence are a mix. War scenes pretty much sucked but individual combats were nice, being smoothly animated with a touch of flair.

The opening theme is Myehhh... but the ending theme is wonderful. Saga~ This is my road is exactly what you would expect as a song by Kanon. A high-pitched opera-styled wonder indeed.

But the story. OMG! The script IS JUST FREAKING AMAZING!
I've always been a fan of the RPG genre in anything. Diablo, Dungeon and Dragons, Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Siege, The Witcher, Magic the Gathering, Archmage, Lone Wolf and the Kai Masters' series, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc. etc.

But damn! The fantasy setting in Guin Saga is just... amazing. I actually felt like I was reading a Adventure novel when watching Guin Saga. Something I've NEVER felt before.

Won't lie though, there were 2 parts in the anime which I wasn't too fond of. Where Guin, the lead character, would appear out of nowhere and happened to "arrive just in time to save you". I'd preferred it if they actually showed him making his way instead of just appearing like that. And the fact that they left an open ending. Ass!
Though, it's just a minor rant of mine. Perfection, so close, yet so far. Lol!

The 2 parts is mediocre compared to the feeling of being so immersed in the story of an anime. Something most animes never bothered to do nowadays. They just show you girls, boobs, guns, fireballs and call it a day. No, not Guin Saga. It doesn't even have the slightest hint of moe. Unless you call Suni moe.

Two years ago, Shibuya was ravaged by a biological terrorist attack using the deadly Ua virus. Maria Osawa was saved when her father inoculated her against the virus, but is left with partial amnesia from the shock. She works as a cameraman when she reunites with a girl named Canaan in Shanghai, China. A gifted assassin with synesthesia, she is under orders from an unknown organization for a yet unspecified mission.

Holy Damn! I just finished CANAAN. Anyone who hasn't watch it... DO IT! NNOOOWWW! :p

The anime wouldn't be the same if any of the characters were missing. Superbly done characters with perfectly matched roles. Well, maybe Liang Qi was a little distubring. But no complaints otherwise. Everything is so good, I actually don't have anything thing to rant on. This blows... Pfft.. Xp

No wait, thought of something.
The opening and ending theme... Pfft... It's probably the only thing holding CANAAN back. The INSERT song in the final episode was another story, it was good. Can't seem to find it online though.

I hate endings which doesn't provide a clear conclusion to how everything ends. HATE!
But still, CANAAN left me more satisfied than I would have expected. It's just that great.

I don't believe it but I've actually found an anime on the same level of greatness as Black Lagoon I /II, and yes, it's CANAAN. Duh!

Just out of curiosity, would you guys classify CANAAN as a mind-fark? Been trying to get a better understanding of the term lately.
I would, considering Liang Qi and Hakko's story. But CANAAN by itself doesn't have too much of a twisted story plot to begin with. Not like Ergo Proxy.

Just a little hint on what to expect. Xp

Oh so Effing Cheesy Fantastic!!

I was wondering why the anime felt so fresh, when we all know harem is an overplayed theme. Then I realized that I haven’t watch any harem animes for more than a month now. -.-”

Still, the animation quality is superb! No seriously! I’m not just talking about the boobs and all other boner supplements. I’m talking about the actual animation, background, characters, movements, effects. EVERYTHING! This is one quality production.

And unlike Juuden-chan, this actually had a sufficient plot to go with all the eye-candy. Put the oppai’s and 2d chicks aside, I’d still enjoy watching it for the action in the later half of the series. Not forgetting the good comedy.
Overall, a pretty good combination of everything in 12 episodes of effing cheesy goodness… Nyuummmmmm…...

I’m lost. Am I to be expecting a second season? Or is it “The End”?

I like how they use clips from the old series.
But there’s way too much recaps. And I hate how they jump back and forth between the time-line. It feels fresh at first, but after a while, it actually gets irritating cause I’ll keep going

“Erm… Did I skip an episode by mistake?”

The 100 Rocket Punch ending was bad ass! And I liked a specific group of characters, namely the Kurogane House, a lot. They were the RoXXors!

But in the end, I didn’t enjoy this series as much as I though I would.
I blame Snark for it! He made me expect too much. :p

Having no plans today, I finally took the time to finish of Aria: The Origination. That anime is s.l.o.w.
To the point it’s borderline boring. First 3 episodes, I fell asleep. Another 3 episodes, I fell asleep again. Lol!
It’s been a while since I took such a long time to finish off a 13 episodes title.

But wait, it was ONLY borderline boring. It never crossed the line.
Me falling asleep? That’s just because I find the anime totally dreamy. The storytelling, the animation, the water passageway and the boats, the characters, the music, everything is just so gentle.
Love the ending theme! Kin no Nami Sen no Nami by Akino Arai

Despite missing the first 2 season, I can really see the somewhat mysterious charm behind the Aria titles. It bears resemblance to what seem like a perfect world; Which really does occasionally provides a good getaway.

I’d like to say, don’t let the 4-Stars throw you off. I’m not making it up when I say there’s a mysteriously charm about Aria that I’d really like you guys to check out. Despite having the lamest lines, the things they say in the anime really feels like it reaches out to you. Touching indeed. It’s something I really like viewers to try out first hand before deciding on the anime.

Now can someone explain to me why all the Presidents of the companies are cats? Or, by my definition, are they aliens instead?

Never ever EVER try to marathon this anime. In fact, don’t ever watch this anime period. You patiently sit out the first 10 episodes to see what happens. You suffer. Then another 10 episodes. You suffer more. Before you know it, everything is over, every damn one is dead. And the show just ends.
Now, having finish the series, I regret not dropping it. Cause it’s just one big messed up pile of horse dung!

This could very well be a Japanese version of Dennis the Menace. Only difference is Dennis was downright irritating. But with Hanada Shounen Shi, it was actually funny. Lol! Although it did cross the borderline from being funny to being irritating during certain episodes. Overall still a good laugh none the less.

Some might feel that it didn’t deserve the 5-Stars I gave, but it was totally “my-pace” des, despite it’s lack of punch.

The story will center on Mirai, a middle school freshman girl who goes to Tokyo’s artificial Odaiba Island for a robot exhibition with her brother Yutaka at the start of summer vacation. A powerful tremor emanates from an ocean trench, the famed Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge crumble and fall, and the landscape of Tokyo changes in an instant. With the help of a motorcycle delivery woman named Mari who they meet on Odaiba, Mirai and Yutaka strive to head back to their Setagaya home in western Tokyo.

Despite the huge anticipation the blogosphere had before it’s release, I find Tokyo M slightly lacking in everything EXCEPT it’s “slice-of-life”. Needless to say, the characters were realistic even to me.

She appears to be that of a 15 year old girl, except for a wolf tail and ears. She introduces herself as the town's goddess of harvest who has kept it blessed with good harvests of wheat for many years. Despite having the responsibility to watch over the town, she wants to go back to her homeland in the north called Yoitsu, she believes the people have already forsaken her anyway and that she has kept her promise to maintain the good harvests. She manages to bargain her way out of the village by making a deal with Lawrence to take her with him. As they travel, her wisdom helps increase his profits, but at the same time, her true nature draws unwanted attention from the church.

Unfortunately, Spice and Wolf Season 1 didn’t hit my expectations which was sky high after watching Season 2. In season 2, Holo was smarter, the story was more intense despite the lack of “wolf” action and Kraft could actually counter Holo’s sarcasm.

The PHASE

I’m pretty sure that most of you don’t notice, but my enthusiasm towards anime blogging has hit an all time low. I’ve actually thought about putting Anime3R to a halt for the past 2 days. Initial thought says that I’ve reached the PHASE.

What PHASE you say?
You know... the PHASE. The phase that every bloggers “supposedly” encounters at least once. Where they start to wonder if all the effort, attention and time poured into their blog is worth it.

Hmm… Neh. It’s not the PHASE affecting my enthusiasm. I’ve been through the PHASE so many times, I’m practically numb to it. I welcome the PHASE. In fact, the PHASE is something I’d freaking embrace with my soft and loving bosom. Cause every time I get pass the PHASE, I realize why I’m blogging. For myself, my interest, my hobby, my entertainment, my pleasure. But remember! Play safe, Use Rubber.

Instead, it’s more like the shitload and shitload and shitloads of work that’s affecting me. It’s already bad enough that I hate my job, but to have shitloads of it just makes is suck much more. The only saving grace about work is the satisfaction I get from the one day of “rest” employees usually get after completing a large order. The salary comes second.

Well… screw grace. Currently in mid process of the current order involving shitloads of work. The boss already tells us to pick up the pace so we can rush on to the next 5 huge orders a.k.a more shitloads of work. Oh well, blame it on my lack of skills and abilities to get stuck in a job I hate. Still awaiting the day when I will be able to make a living out of animes.

No… I’m not talking about the type you get from the opposite sex. I’m talking about the passion of my new hobby, photography. It was an Olympus C150. Paid RM$700 for that piece of shit. 1.3 megapixel. No optical zoom. 64MB storage. Second camera, Panasonic Lumix Fs-7. Rm$590. 10megapixel of smooth compact goodness. Leica lens. 4gigs of storage. Morgan’s Law farking ownz you.

Fast forward a few months, and I now have my first D-SLR, a Sony a300. I just could not resist the temptation after seeing the infinite possibilities which a RAW photo file allows. But it was the photo-shoot from last week which shot my interest sky high.

Now, every time I sit in front of the computer, getting ready to draft an anime review and nothing comes out. Even after watching good animes like Spice and Wolf Season 1 and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (In progress). Instead, what goes through my mind is how I’m going to do a Haruhi Gekisou shoot. And also for my upcoming figures.

I don’t know if this is just a phase? Or if it will pass by anytime soon. But I do know what I want, and for now, I want (and will)
1) Revamp Anime3R yet again, as per previous mood swing.
2) Cut down on anime reviews and try to increase topic on other categories. Hopefully cosplay photography. Xp
3) Try to achieve a more friendly and welcoming blog. Rather than the slightly professional (“wannabe”) atmosphere I now have in my blog.
4) Also expect a name change. -.-“

I was having an adrenalin hangover since sunday's shoot, grumpy, tired, stressed out from work and I have yet to find time to finish my last 2 episodes of Spice and Wolf season 1. Fortunately, today work was much better. Despite my 1 hour of sleep from last night. So I'm all Genki Genki now. Now back to the post...

The theme of the day was Vocaloid's if you haven't already notice. -.-"

First hour of the photoshoot, I was all stressed out. Lol! Cause from what I see in the camera. Most of the pictures were somehow or rather too dark. Only later did I found out that it was because the sunlight was reflecting on my camera's display which makes it LOOK like the pictures were too dark.

By the way, The picture above ^. That's my weapon by fate. A Sony A300 dslr. Nothing to shout about, a beginner's machine with your usual beginner's specs and features.

Finally done touching up on Nigaito, cosplayed by RayRay. Uploaded and I bring to you 4 of my favourite shots of her.

07-Ghost can only be described with one word. S.L.O.W.

The overly dragging story pace overwhelmed me so bad that I can’t even think well enough to put the positive points about 07-Ghost into words right now. I pretty much forced myself to sit through the anime. But after 25 episodes, they still haven’t explained what the whole storyline is suppose to achieve.
Teito’s objective is uncertain, Ayanami’s intention is unknown, What relationship the Eye of Mikhail and the 7-Ghosts has, Heck! I don’t even know if they are gay!?

Allow me to elaborate,
“Apparently”, everything will become clear once Teito regains his memories. He will understand the mission he has been given.
*Ohz Noez, Another hero who lost his memories*
So every now and then, his mind throws a hissy fit and part of his memories comes back. Now comes the bad part. It takes him seemingly forever to remember but a short snip of his memories. By the end of the series, Teito has NOT remembered everything.

Having a mood-breaking slow story pace is one thing, but to couple it with an open ending. It absolutely sucked. Yes, that’s right, I’m spoiling it for you guys. It’s an open ending of NOTHINGNESS!
NOTHING HAPPENED! Sure there was a little invasion, some puny battles, among other things. But it is nowhere near justifying 8 hours of my time spent on this anime.

"God damn it! Forgot to ask about my chains again!"
Anyone noticed how it took 9 episodes before Teito’s chains were taken off. 9 freaking episodes. Only to be bound by a neck collar next. Lol! The irony.

I am actually a little speechless at this shot. Feel free to self-caption.

Ok, ranting about the negative points helped lighten the rage a little. Maybe I’ll say some of the good points, which still doesn’t make up for 07-Ghost’s flaws. Just to let you know.

I actually did enjoy the first few episodes. The first story plot revolving Teito’s escape and Mikage’s burden was an interesting one. Couldn’t help but worry about Mikage’s dilemma and how it would turn out in the end. That was of course, before I notice things were starting to span out. It was pretty much a downfall of sky-diving proportions after that.

I was absolutely thrilled at the sight of this scene. Unfortunately, that was all in vain.

Overall, it’s a nice package. With good animation, good attempts on comedy (emphasis on good), short, swift and painless combat scenes, and below average music (Although I know another blogger who loves the ending theme.. Enough to make an AMV out of it. Unfortunately, her site seems to down after being inactive quite a while now, so I couldn’t link to her).
I actually have no issue with the story itself too. Again, it’s the way the story was told which was way too slow, that killed whatever 07-Ghost had going for it.

As much as everyone in the anime appreciates your premonition, sometimes you need to elaborate Labrador-san.
As far as viewers are concerned, something has been coming since Episode 2.

Basquash is great! We already know that…
Well… for those who don’t, I’ll say it again. Basquash is the bestest awesomemestemest adrenalin pumping ass-WHOOPING coolestest anime ever!

It’s so great, I’m not even going to bother with a review. It’s a 5-Star, through and through. Instead, I’m going to spam about the elements of Basquash. Explained by a bogus theory I came up with. I think I’m going to call it the 5-B-Multiplier.

In a nutshell, Basquash is so great because it fully utilize the 5 B’s. Basketball, Bots, Babes, Balls and of course, Boobies. Put all these together, and the effect multiplies so great that Basquash achieves EPICDOM!

Let’s start with Basketball.
The basketball in Basquash is street style. Although, there are hints of a court style basketball existing in some scenes when Rouge called Dan JD to shoot a three pointer.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but there has not been a single basketball anime which flunked. Even Dear Boys, the anime featuring sissy guys. Which although wasn’t something I enjoyed, had a rather successful feedback. Despite having rock-bottom basketball animes like Buzzer Beater, more often than not, basketball animes will always receive a good response.

Anyway, who doesn’t love basketball?

Ok, first, You need to hit the court. Try the game.

Off topic: I used to love watching NBA, back when Anfernee Hardaway and Shaq played for Orlando Magic. They were my favorite matchup. Then Shaq left Orlando and I never bothered with NBA ever again. Now, the game is just fucked up. There’s a foul every second, either that or everyone is too busy acting the man, calling each other’s moms or what not. Pfft…

Back on topic, So… Yeah… Basketball rocks. Especially Streetball!
I’d definitely join Streetball competitions if only I wasn’t so farking short.

Bots
If you haven’t learn by now, Bots are cool.
They do things normal humans can’t. They can cook, fly, has superhuman strength, blow buildings up, Split a planet to two. And yes, they can play Basketball, or rather, Basquash!

The bots in Basquash are known as Big Foots. Which I find the name really suitable, despite the foot of the bots NOT being big. Having a really rugged design really makes the Big Foot feels original. And they wear basketball shoes. I’ll be damned if that isn’t cool!

I wish I could elaborate more, but words fail me. And I just found out that it’s harder to talk about bots than to talk about female characters.

Babes
When I say babes, I actually do mean Rouge. She’s already hot as it is, but to pilot a bot and play basketball too. She’s also a little Tsundere. Dang! She’d fit me to a tee!
To Snark, SHE IS MINE!!! So she pilots a bot but I doubt she’s above legal age. Meaning she’s someone you shouldn’t take a liking too.

Oh Shit! Almost forgot to include Sela. Plays basketball, rides a Big Foot, also Hot! Although… cuming over watching or playing good basketball probably means I’ll never satisfy her. Cause my basketball sucks, HARD! I can’t shoot, score, block Jack. All I can ever do is steal. Pffft…

Actually, I’m also rather fond of Alan Naismith. Short hair, Cap, mechanic clothing, Hot!
The moment she change back to her princess form however, she seemed like the dull brainless character you would find in Pretty Cure or some shit like that.
Oh by the way, I AM actually trying to get hold of this anime called Fresh Pretty Cure. LOLOLOL!!!
It’s switching fansubs like baby switches diapers. So my episodes are messed up. Anyone knows any reliable source? I’m guessing that’s how bad it is.

Balls
When I say Balls, I actually do mean it in a GAR manner.
“That guy’s got Ballsz!”
I would have used the word Boys, but it sounded under-manly.

The balls I mean is the type Dan JD lack restraint of. Him crashing around everywhere and anytime he wants to just refills the body of adrenalin over and over again. Even Dan’s pet/companion, Spanky, had balls.

Iceman has balls too. But he’s just too cool that it hides his manhood. Same goes for James Lone.

Boobs
When I say boobs, I actually do mean Haruka and Miyuki. One representing Jupiter, another representing Neptune.
Unfortunately, like Jupiter, Haruka’s boobs were losing its ability to maintain a perfect sphere, due to the stronger gravity of earth which ultimately makes it sag, as opposed to the low gravity on moon. They actually mention the gravity-sagging-boobs in the anime by the way. As Jupiter, it is slowly “compressing”.

Miyuki’s however, still has a long way to go. Although she would definitely appeal to Ganguro lovers. xp

Violette’s boobs were just plain scary. It was as big as Haruka’s, but it didn’t look human.
So I took her out of the Boobs section.

Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~

Look pass the moe, and you will find yourself watching a solidly packaged anime. I’m talking about a good story, throwing in a perfect mix of comedy, adventure, drama, and friendship. I wouldn’t say that it’s superior in any sense, just that it has a good enough of everything. Watch any episode and you’ll just know that this is some quality anime we’re talking about. But obviously, knowing the story from the start helps.

The most outstanding point of Umi Monogatari has got the be the animation. Freaking flawless I’d say. A little simple and bland when it comes to the drawing, but that’s what prevents it from making mistakes. K.I.S.S. terminology? Perhaps…
As for color wise, zen zen ni hyaku pasen!

Although I wished they could have pushed it up another level when it came to combat scenes. It’s not exactly dull, just feels a little “sailormoon”-ish. Talking about that, expect transformation scenes in this anime too. Lol!

Don't say I didn't warn ya!

I really enjoyed the comedy in Umi Monogatari. Slapsticks did not feel overplayed. Comedy line were short, direct, yet sarcastic enough to pack a little punch. And the facial expression was superb. To the point it adds a touch of finesse to the comedy.

Seems to me that most themes these days have reached a rather superior level. Yet another opening theme which I found myself trying to sing to. Violet by marble, give it a try, even if you don’t watch the anime. It’s quite a nice piece on its own.

I’d say bear with the first 3 episodes if you are looking for something slightly heavier. Only after that does things start to pick up, as characters face certain hardships. Some on their own, some faced together. But you can be sure that for every hardship they encounters, the character’s depth just increases. To the point of the final plot where it gets sad and I was really touched.

I find myself super fond of the slang Kanon, Suzuki or other islanders (in the anime) use. Similar to the slang Arumi from Abenobashi has. I’m guessing that it just feels fresh, sounding different than the normal speech style found in your usual animes.

Ceui: Album

Gentle, kind and soft. There three words constantly echoes in my mind as I try to put the beauty that is Ceui’s voice into words. Ceui’s songs are those that might not catch your attention straight away. But will be something you grow to love as you listen on to the album.

When I first listened to Ceui’s album, Glassy Heaven. I was actually a little skeptical. I found myself too focused on her voice alone to enjoy the song as a whole. Which actually resulted in me feeling a little disappointed. Thankfully the second time I listened to the album was on a Sunday and I was going full-throttle, so I cranked up the volume quite a bit.
Wow! It was a whole new album. I already knew Ceui has a great voice. But now also being able to catch the music clearly, I became totally absorbed of the cohesion of both.

The songs in Glassy Heaven can mainly be divided into 3 groups. Each group being able to share different moods with its listeners.

The first group, example being dreamscape (personal fav xp), Towa no Kotoba, Madoromo no Rakuen brings about the feeling of serene like that of sitting in an empty coffeehouse, by the glass window. Sipping a cup of hot coffee. While watching the world outside revolve slowly as time comes to slow down. Light raindrops from the drizzles hits the glass window and slowly flows down the glass.

The second group, with Prelude ~Unmei no Kakera~, Seisen Spectale and Prayer for example, brings about the feeling of a struggle to build up a little tension. Only nearing the ending will it slow it’s pace down, and the tension fades away. Imagine the same as the above scenario, but this time with a storm going on outside. you would turn from feeling peaceful from the light drizzle, to slightly worried as the heavy drops of rain hits the glass.

The 3rd group, just makes you want to go out and walk under the rain with her songs in your ears. Kokoro no Tsubasa, mellow melody.

Noticed anything yet? Yup...
Glassy Heaven really does brings out the impression of a rainfall. Just the matter of how heavy the rain is, depending on the song.

This is by no means a review, it’s more like an impression. Any reader would have noticed that I am absolutely fanboy-ing by now. Which makes this post illegit (Lol.. This word sounds awesome for some reason!).

Great! On to the review!

Antique Bakery really excelled in having a absolute balance of everything.
Two layers of romance, a slice-of-life in between. Topped off with a thin spread of mystery. Three dash of Yaoi’s on the side. Shred some comedy on top for additional flavoring and serve with a warm cup of Earl Grey. A slice of lemon at the side.
So wonderfully tasty!

I Eff-ing love the music theme. Opening, closing and background music. Every single opening and ending, my head would just freaking bop non-stop. Like those bop figures you stick in your car. But of course, my head would be in tune and so smooth that chicks would find me irresistible.
Hmm… I should find a place where all the chicks hang out. Then start bopping my head. That would get me a date for sure.

As a personal preference, I “normally” hate open endings. Those with loose ends, unresolved romance, etc. etc. You get the idea.
Yet despite not having much resolved, the ending came out as strangely fulfilling.
Upon giving it a second thought, I realized that the focus of the anime was not on catching Tachibana’s kidnapper. Instead, it was resolving it as an obstacle. How Tachibana faces it as a past which he might or might not be able to put behind.
Same goes for Eiji, Ono, and Chikage. As they matured both as waiters, patissier and more importantly as people.

I laughed so hard at this scene. Lol!

Again, animation using soft lines with the colors slightly faded. Antique Bakery really wanted viewers to take notice of their cakes as the contrast between them were really big. The color of their cakes would be so rich. Yet everything else were slightly faded throughout the anime.
And it worked, by the way. I found myself munching on snacks every single episode. Lol!
I would get hungry every episode.

I HAVE to comment on one thing though, regardless of how good the anime is. The male kiss scenes, and skin to skin hugs, and sleeping on the same bed freaking flipped the panic button in my head. Which was actually rather funny.
It’s like, the moment any two guys got close, started moving the lips in an awkward way. And I could hear my own panicking self from a mile away

“WWWEEEEEEE YYYYUUUUU WWWWEEEE YYYYYUUUUUU”

“Skip it Skip it! They are gonna French! God damn it! You are going to be scarred again!!!”

“WWWEEEEEEE YYYYUUUUU WWWWEEEE YYYYYUUUUUU”

My panic face was much more panickkier!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2

On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. When Kyon comments about Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves dragged, literally, into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

I have NEVER came across an anime where I hated every single character. Seriously! Even with the bad ratings I gave for Season 1, I was at least enjoying some brief moments and was fond of Mikuru for the moe that she is. But season 2, even Kyon’s younger sister got on my nerves let alone everyone else.

“The phone is ringing”

“Kyon-kun, the phone”
“ANSWER THE GOD DAMN PHONE!”
“Arggghhfhwohfowanconeniofnoiehohfoawhiodaiodhiodiadadwanfklanfle Phone”

There is a perfect explanation why I’m especially pissed at the above mentioned scene. You know how you normally start an episode, watch the first few minutes, then only decides to start skipping through?
Well, that’s a die-hard habit of mine. So for the duration of endless eight plot, I actually watched every scene where Kyon’s sister (whatever her name is) was going “Myeh Myeh Myeh Myeh Myeh”.

Seeing how I hate this anime. I’d point out how I would change this series to make it a 5-Star rating. Which is actually very simple and straight forward…

Kyon has to shut his narration up for just a moment. It’s like he talks without ever breathing. Yap Yap Yap Yap Yap Yap Yap and a million more. The only “good” thing was that 90% of the time all he yapped about was how Haruhi sucked, which I agree with. But even then it still got bored. Be a man, stop yapping and do something about it.

Haruhi, just as bad if not worse than Kyon and his chant-like narration. If it wasn’t Kyon and his narration buzzing non-stop, it would be Haruhi yapping away. The combination of them both freaking hurt my ears. I actually had to turn down the volume in some of the episodes as it got too neck-scratching irritating. So yeah, Haruhi has to shut her mouth too.

Mikuru has to bloody stop crying. It comes as no surprise that I’ve always been rather fond of moe, but Arghh… Mikuru, What the hell is wrong with you! Stop crying! Speak up! And do it in a none glass-shattering pitch. I would at least give her a brain in the anime.

Yuki still as expressionless as ever. Yeah, Sure, It’s her “personality”. That’s what makes her cool. Hah!! She probably spoke less words that I have in this post throughout the anime. Koizumi needs a hate face! Only expression I’ve ever see him with throughout the anime is the stupid smirk he has and another version of the smirk he use when he gets a little worried. Also stupid. I “think” he has a brain, but it’s probably the size of a BB Gun bullet. And 50% of his brain activities already goes to processing the movements of combing his hair with his hands. So you can guess how bad that is…
Talking about that. Someone has to tell Koizumi to stop combing his hair with his hands. He needs a big billboard with a sign that tells him Haruhi is NOT going to fall for him. If that’s even what he is attempting in the first place. See! I’m so pissed I’ve even started resorting to my own fiction to down-bitch Koizumi.

Tsuruya! Way to go! Not only did I break my milestone of hating every single character in an anime. I never hated a character so fast! Only appearing in a single episode… no wait… half an episode… or was it quarter, and I already hate Tsuruya.

This shot makes it worth going through Endless Eight...... is what I'd like to say. Unfortunately, it's not.

Opening theme, I can probably try to enjoy it, going to have to try very hard.
Closing theme, can’t even stomach it. Already forgotten how it sounds like.

Only salvageable moment was episode 1, 13, 14, and the 2 minutes worth of sorry lame excuse of an ending at episode 9. The rest of the episodes, you might as well burn it off the face of the earth.
Why I enjoyed the above mentioned episodes? Also simple…
Episode 1, I was still enjoying the feeling of a new anime. Didn’t last long.
Episode 9, Homework?! Freaking Homework?! You got to be kidding me?! Spoiler my “behind”, it’s not even worth it!
Episode 13, Someone almost got slapped! Best… Scene… Ever… Now that’s what I call karma! (Which doesn’t exist in animes by the way… or real life for that matter.)
Episode 14, Now you introduce conspiracy?! At the final episode??! Which unfortunately for me, means there must be a season 3 cooking somewhere in anime hell.

For now, I’m just amazed at how wide a gap the different preferences of animes we human beings have.

I was so bored, I found myself doing other stuffs. Lol!

Ceui always make the high notes sound so effortlessly yet natural. Really proving this by the songs that she sings. Never failing to hit a single high pitch or having a high pitch (or any pitch for that matter) seem out of tune. Every song she sings, her vocal and the instrumental music are always able to blend together so well, producing a sense of bliss through the songs.

Having the ability to affect the listeners mood, I especially enjoy listening to her songs on rainy days, which never fails to multiply the effect her songs bring about. Her songs reaches into your heart, and produce a light hearted mood as you listen to song after song without fail.

Although, I dare say that her songs are not for everyone and might seem unattractive to those who seek or prefer the faster tempo or the variety with slightly more rock. But if you keep your heart open, you will very soon find yourself drowning in the gentleness of her voice as I did.

Continuing where the first series left off, it follows Kraft Lawrence a experienced traveling merchant and his sharp tongued wolf god companion Horo on their journey to return to Horo's home to the north called Yoitsu. A tender relationship has blossomed between the characters, as they make deals, travel between cities, encounter religious fanatics or vice versa and mostly just do what a traveling merchant has to do to get by.

I haven't seen how others rated Spice and Wolf Season 2, but it was underrated. Even if you gave it a full score it would still be underrated!

In Spice and Wolf II, we have probably the 2 smartest characters in anime history, Horo and Lawrence. I'm not talking about full scores in some high school exams, or those who can spout meaningless crap as Snark points out in this post. I'm talking about mature, street smart, realistic-like intelligence. Intelligence that actually makes perfect logical sense. Sometimes the conversation between Horo and Lawrence get so verbal that even I fail to comprehend (Watching too many animes and lack of human interaction does that to you). But even so, their body language, the face expression, the music, everything works out to fill in any doubt you might have.

The sarcasm is well treasured as it not only gives you a good laugh but gives you a chance to actually give your brain some work out. Yes! Spice and Wolf is actually an anime that is BOTH ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL. When the fark have you ever hear me say that?! In fact, when in the world have you ever heard anyone say that about an anime.

At time of posting this, I am looking for Spice and Wolf Season 1. And if it is anywhere as brilliant as season 2, I will convert to Spice and Wolf-ism. For now, I'll also be patiently wait for Season 3.

The opening and closing theme were both excellent. Although it's one of those few times where I actually prefer the Tv sized version. And for both songs at that. Instilling a sense of joy before and after every episode. Needless to say it was quite a satisfaction.

Episode 1 to 6, got me all worked up as it showed the best the anime can offer. Bringing tension from the "Amati's Contract" story, while Lawrence and Horo showed off their ability as a skilled merchant and powerful analytical skills. This was so good that it got me watching till 3am when I had to work the next day (Leaves house at 7am mind you).As that story ended, I thought to myself
"Fuh! That was excellent. I am thoroughly satisfied and couldn't ask for anything more. Will catch up on sleep the next day."
Only to be drowned in yet another brilliant story the following night. This time with more passion as Horo and Lawrence faces the possibilities of going their separate ways. Again another sleepless night, which was well worth every single bit!

Biography
Ceui was born in Chiba, Japan, though she grew up in Fukuoka. Due to the influence of her mother as a piano teacher, Ceui began learning classical piano from the age of six. As a young girl, she became interested in children's literature and poetry, and began writing verses herself. As a student, she was a member of the wind instrument club and choir. She went to Shirayuri Women's University where she graduated with a degree in Japanese literature.

When she entered high school, she wished to enter the light music club. Unfortunately, there was no Light Music club so she enrolled in the Choir club (Soprano) instead. Upon entering college, she entered a circle of light music, a band started, sang and performed a variety of cover songs. And finally started to compose music, and aspired to become a singer.

In 2000, Ceui made a demo tape and was able to produce two six-track albums for the Japanese home furnishing store Francfranc entitled Spring Time and Autumn Mind; the albums were released via Filter Ink. Officially, these albums were released as "Francfranc's Bedside Music Selection featuring Ceui". In 2002, Ceui worked on a project CD with the Japanese apparel company Sanei-International for their clothing brand LUVLISH 'cos brilliant. In 2003, Ceui went on an overseas live tour with other artists sponsored by Filter Ink. On October 21, 2004, Ceui released an independent album titled Ashimoto ni Furu Ame: Raindrops falling on My Feet, which was sold in HMV stores nationwide in Japan. The same day, a project CD Ceui had worked on for the Japanese fortune teller Kaoruko Stella entitled Love Chance Music also went on sale. In 2006, Ceui provided a chorus to the blind Japanese pianist Kohshi Kishita.

Ceui made her major debut on Lantis' MellowHead music label brand with the release of her first single "Madoromi no Rakuen" in February 2007. Ceui would release one more single in 2007, "Mellow Melody", followed by another in 2008, "Kamigami no Uta". Ceui released five more singles in 2009, as well as her debut album Glassy Heaven in July 2009.

I will honestly tell you that reading the synopsis above was much more interesting than watching the anime. So if the synopsis didn't even make you blink, don't bother. Lol!

I've never seen ships this horny.

Yea, in the distant future, there will be no diversity. Everyone will have shades of blue for hair color, expressionless face, and males and females will share the same tone. Only way to tell them apart is from the figure. Which even then will be tricky.

Screenshots from the original series, Seikai no Monshou a.k.a Crest of the Stars were plentiful. Which got me really curious and looked around for more info. Found out there were a whole lot of additional sequels, movies and tv series. Although, it doesn't really help this 3rd OAV much. In fact, I don't even know why I wrote about it. Just trying to pass the minimum level of words for this review.

Hmm... Since there really isn't much to write about, I want to ask if anyone has seen the previous TV series of this title? Any series.

If you did, how did you find Seikai no Senki III. DId it bring you any form of nostalgia or good memories of how you enjoyed the previous series? Just curious as to how low the level an OAV can drop before fans start to hate a title. It's not BAD bad. It's just below-average bad. But still, even the serious mood it manage to brought about from the ending couldn't save it from killing off one's enthusiasm.

Requiem from the Darkness
- Technically I don't know if I should say I dropped it. Lol! I watched episode 1 and 2 and skipped till the final plot, about episode 9 and onwards. The story was good, no complaints there. Only problem was that the animation was really showing its age and that kind of turn me off. But if I had to rate it, I guess it gets an approval after all.

I have officially found the 2nd scariest character ever in my whole anime/cartoon watching timespan! The Zeon Shinigami sends a chill down my spine everything she pops out. Starts floating around and spout her stuff. Those freaky eyes and spooky mascara. Bbrrrr!!!!

I don't know if this qualifies as an anime. It's fully CG after all. Provided you are not obsesed with how the faces of the characters look (a little too blocky to feel real), you'll enjoy the show just fine. Don't expect big eyes, solid and single-colored hair, big boobs, etc. etc. Hmm... MS Igloo 2 was a welcomed watch indeed! Too much fanservice in my recent animes.

Anyway... This show rocks! HARD! The animation, sound, story. Top Notch! Every scene felt like a wallpaper in the making. The colors were shere artistry. And for 30 minutes each episode, it still manage to bring just enough depth to the characters. Enough to tease you when it ended like it did. Then after enjoying the whole episode without blinking an eye, the ending song comes on, and despair drowns you as you feel a sudden loss, not wanting the anime to ever end.

Shit! Some episodes even explored 2 characters, and STILL manage to get me to feel attached, in less than 30 mins! Needless to say, Gundam fans cannot afford to miss this. It has Odessa!

One thing though, episode 2 and 3... Rather predictable. -.-"

For the first in a long long time, I actually really want to read mangas again. I mean really as in to the point where I would open up the browser and search for it. Although, I closed the browser later deciding not to, due to animes backlogged bigger then the Fuji mountains. But seriously, this OVA kicked ass. There isn't much to say about the story. But viewers will get the idea what it's about and how the setting and theme is. I wasn't too fond of episode 2, Badou's story to be honest. It's just that the animation for episode 2 seemed somewhat lacking compared to the other 3.

Hey? What can I say, my thoughts don't come cheap. :p

Expect feathered colors, soft yet so full. Hard outlines. Something similar to Ga-Rei-Zero but with brighter choice of colors. Hmm... That seems to be the trend nowadays isn't it?

I didn’t expect it to be so true. Well, not literally. Instead I couldn’t help but doubt the memories of my schooldays I treasure so much. Compared to Hatsukoi Lmited, they seem so shallow and void of romance.

Talking about shallow, that was the first impression I got when I started this series. It was unavoidable seeing how much comedy was in the first 2 episodes. And how it was making fun of the one-sided love Zaitsu Misao has for Ayumi. The ending theme didn’t help much either.
This would then turn out to be the few times that I’m super glad to be wrong. The episodes after that were fill with energy, romance, passion… Youth.

Although, this anime got me thinking, regarding Kusuda and Kei-san’s romance. Are all mid-school students that slow when interpreting love?..
No wait, reflecting on my own experience… Yeah, back in school, I do have friends, both guys and gals, who wouldn’t know if a love-train smacked them head-on. -.-“

This is strictly my own feeling and I’m wondering if I’m the only one. But Hatsukoi Limited is so filled with emotions, not only sad, romantic and touching moments. But also laughter and joy. Yet it didn’t push me to the point I’d cry, like Clannad did. I did get wet eyes though. The thing is, it’s because I didn’t cry that my heart feels so heavy that it’s driving me crazy. It’s like there’s no outlet for all the emotions. So I’d like to ask, am I the only one who feels this way? Or is there someone out there who needs help just as much as I do? Lol!

Hatsukoi Limited has (somehow) got me reflecting on myself so much I don’t even think this should be called a review post anymore. But just to make due, there will be nothing to complain about regarding the animation quality, sound and music and story. It will, without fail, satisfy anyone as long as they have an open heart and mind towards romance animes. There are some slight changes I would have made to the characters before I can call this anime perfect though. But Hatsukoi Limited comes pretty darn close! 5-Wonderfully-Heart-Warming-Stars!

P.S: At this point, I’m wondering if posting all that I’ve written above will reveal to the world the big sissy that I am. Hmmm…. Sissy it is! :p

As usual, I feel that some of the pantsu shots were uncalled for. Hatsukoi Limited already had so much going for it that it wouldn’t need simple-minded fanservice. The swimsuits and loli dressing however, are still welcomed.

Those who came across my Clannad review, might remember how I once mention that I prefer characters with well developed background, family and history wise. I feel that it gives characters a greater level of depth and complexity. Which prevents them from feeling like “staple” characters. And in turn gives the illusion of the characters being able to affect you deeper as you are able to relate to that character. Well, Hatsukoi Limited really opened my eyes to how an anime character can go about doing what I just mentioned without the complex character build-up. From episode to episode, Hatsukoi Limited barely build character depth yet when the characters get in their own environment the story has build around them, they were able to become so touching. If I didn’t have this self-imposed-ignorance belief, I would be worshipping the script writer(/director) by now. Absolutely wonderful!
Yeah, sure. There are animes being able to move you emotionally without character build-up as well. But none touched me more than Hatsukoi Limited.

One last thing. Episode 9, which tells the story between Chikura and Renjou. BEST… EPISODE… EVER!
Till now, my heart stings whenever I hear the ending song, Sora ni Mau by marble play.

Negima Ala Alba was the whooole reason I bought and watched Negima! and the remake Negima!? Not forgetting the OVA’s in between. Episode 1 of NAA was so good. Started off with a bang! A magic fight between teacher and student. Followed by a big of comedy, a bit of Moe, abit of friendship. Clinging on to the satisfaction, I stopped at episode 1, determined to watched the series beforehand.
Fast forward a few months later, I’m back to Negima Ala Alba, having watched all the previously mentioned. Damn! I got fooled by episode 1 of NAA> Lol!

Episode 1 was great. No mistakes there. Although a little confusing to those unfamiliar with the original Negima series or manga, it feels like gold to Negi fans (like me :p). episode 2 and 3 however, will be harder to digest. Ep 2 is mainly fanservice, with beach, swimsuits and Onsens. And episode 3 plays random scenes of the students. I know this sounds retarded but NAA was exploring characters in Ep3, the last episode of this short series. Now why would you do that? Unless there is a new series coming up (There IS a movie coming up by the way!). Bottom line, none-Negima fans will find this series filler-like. Which it is, but at least those who previously watched it will be able to understand and relate to the fillers. Then again, it was probably meant to be extra’s for the main series and was not made with the priority to attract new fans.

Aika's story continues, she is now 19 years-old, 3 older than in R-16 and 7 younger than in Agent AIKa. Strange phenomena have been occuring at a girls academy. Slowly but persistent the most cute and beautiful girls are joining an internal club, but instead of a sing-in they just get abducted by a strange being that takes control over them by some indecent means. By coincidence Aika was flying-by on her plane when one of this abductions occured and she was attacked to prevent her from comming closer, but instead of repelling her, she is intrigated about the attack origin and then the opportunity shows up when her late partners from R-16 decide to investigate those abductions. The story remains full of action and panty flashing that are a must in Aika's series.

4 minutes into the anime, I was already laughing. I noticed that there were A LOT of pantsu. So much so that I started counting for the fun of it. Needless to say I lost count. I know that this series has always been a total fanservice. But I didn’t expect it to break world records for pantsu flashing.

Seeing that I’m not sure as to whether how many episodes there will be for this series. I’m leaving this a as preview post instead. Instead, for further understanding of the anime. I present to you what is but a handful of the total pantsu scenes in the anime. The biggest flaw so far, if there were going to be that much pantsu shots in the episode, at least put in enough effort to show some variety in the designs.

If you have watched or is well acquainted with previous Cobra Series, you’d probably know what Cobra is all about. An infamous pirate, traveling around seeking adventures and treasures, and babes :p
Always featuring the same animation style, equal in quality as before with thick outlines and large variety of colors. And its strongest aspect, creative imagination which in Time Drive still will not lose out to other similar genre titles.

I found Time Drive more interesting in that it tells the history of Cobra and Lady. And how they got together. Seeing how I like (not a big fan, but still enjoy) Cobra as a character, the story was naturally something that would captivate me. Sure it’s the similar one-guy-against-evil-king standard plot, but with all the twists and plots included, the story really did felt unique. Also to take note that by now I no longer put graphics/animation at such a high priority as before. Time Drive was surprisingly satisfying for a Cobra series this time around. Going to give it a 3-almost-made-it-to-4-Stars.

Yes, it’s that time again… Where I post up some spam and sugarcoat it so that it may present itself as an intellectual discussion.

I’ve wanted to rant about this since a few months back. But always chucking the idea aside, God knows why… Coming across Otaku Dan’s post about ADV closing down not long ago, kind of brought up the idea again. Kick started the Crap Generation Module in my brain and off I go…

So, how many of you guys** actually know which Studio your favorite animes come from?

And the answer will probably be… everyone. It wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out that I’m the only one who doesn’t know. Well as a matter of fact, I do know where 2 ( and only 2 ) animes come from. And that’s Clannad and K-on which are both from KyoAni. Eden of the East? No idea. Tengen Toppa? No idea also. Kannagi? Nope. Negima? Noooo freaking idea! Naruto or Bleach? Zen Zen nai. Oh ya! Recently added to the list of known anime/studio would be Evangelion by ADV as per OtakuDan’s post.

Well, I don’t know because I simply don’t care. Or rather I choose to be ignorant.

I remember coming across this site few months ago when Googling for Clannad. It was a KyoAni fansite or something. The stuffs they do there… Lol! Worshipping all KyoAni productions and dishing out the rest. I have nothing agasint them to be honest. Fanboys will be fanboys (or girls.. :p ). I still remember how I thought KyoAni was a person with somewhat unique name when I first started blogging. -.-"

Back to my point, I refuse to know which studios the animes come out from because I’ve read about how some people tend to avoid certain animes once they found out which studios they are from. Probably caused by a bad experience with an anime from the same studio in the past. Or maybe because of anime genre’s they are not fond off.

I’d be caught dead before rejecting an anime when I haven’t even watch a single episode or so. Just because a studio has some bad animes under its belt doesn’t mean that all animes it produced will be forever bad. Same goes for famous or big studios as well. Surely you don’t expect to enjoy every single anime from a particular studio.

Hmm… Yaoi on the other hand is a totally different matter. I really rather be dead. Lol!

Not only that, but the directors, staffs and so many other factors are to be accounted for which makes an anime the way it is.

Now repeat everything I just mentioned above, but this time instead of studios, think seiyuus, directors, artists/outliners/whatever-you-call-em, animators,etc. I do not know a single Japanese staff. -.-“
Underneath all that spam, I'm trying to say as an anime fan, don't reject an anime before you even try it just because it has some staff from your blacklist.

Another question. How important is it for an anime to be original? How important is it for an anime to be different and absolutely unique to another? Is it that important that you will NOT watch Rideback because you watched Viper’s Creed? Or vice versa? Or even if you watched one, you will not enjoy the other just because both animes had the same concept, in this case, bike mechs.

So what is the big deal going around reviewers complaining that this anime is a rip off of that anime etc. etc.? Seriously! Just because a newer anime uses the same story or character as an earlier anime does not mean it will perform worst. And how much originality is there left in animes anyway. Every single possible plot has been explored and used. If some guy does manage come up with a totally unique idea. Damn! He should patent it or something!

And before anyone starts pointing fingers, I don't remember which blog it was from. The moment I read that post I guessed that we wouldn't really communicate well and I closed the page. Lol! It isn't any of the blogs I frequent.

Natsu no Arashi

Gaaawwr…… I know deep down in my gut that Natsu no Arashi is a brilliant anime. The animation is more than satisfactory. Making good use of vivid colors and lively environment. Nice character designs with fluid movements. Although the occasional drop in quality is slightly noticable.

Love the vocals too. Really matches the personality of each character well and expresses vocal emotions so effortlessly. Characters are more than solid. Something you can really get attached to as you watch on.

You have Hajime, a schoolboy who passionately chases after his dream of being a superhero like we all once did and of being Arashi’s man. Spontaneous and confident in everything that he does. He is slightly unique in that he is possessed by a female ghost, which is Arashi. Kind, caring, friendly and slightly clumsy. Arashi died 60 years ago and has been a ghost ever since. Upon finding someone who Arashi can "synch" with, she gains the ability to travel through time. An ability shared by other ghosts. The other characters in the anime are just as interesting as the leads. But I rather no spoil if for those who hasn’t watched this yet. Cause the characters really are Natsu no Arashi’s strongest and best aspect and I want to leave the satisfaction of exploring the characters to you viewers.

But still it will not get a fat-5. The pacing of the anime felt somewhat slow. I’m not talking about episode 1 cause it was a "preview" episode of sort about the future and also gives the viewers a good idea of what to expect from the series. Instead, I’m talking about episode 2 to 8. How these episodes lacked the punch to keep me entertained. Despite having give the characters excellent depth with sufficient scenes of their past and exploring their personalities, it still managed to feel somewhat boring. They should have script a juicier plot in between mid series to give the viewers something to bite on to. Or at least made full use of the depth character had to play a more captivating plot.

If they pushed up Kanako and Yayoi’s story 2 to 3 episodes early. Now that would have been perfect. Unfortunately, having a big gap of excitement in mid series drops this down to a good solid 4-Stars. Still, loved the beautifully laid ending they had in episode 12.

Sneaky little trick here, using silhouettes of the female characters to give what seem like a naked pose to make sure no one could resist skipping the opening theme. I fell for it every single episode. :p

Belly button fetish is oh-so-apparent as a belly button shot appears multiple times every single episode. -.-"

Kenshiro made an "appearance" too. Lol! and so did Takumi and his Ae86

Initially, Yukari was reluctant to be associated with this seemingly eccentric group, but eventually, she realises that they are really nice people. Furthermore, their passion and enthusiasm to follow their ideals and dreams make Yukari realise that she has not been enjoying her life and this motivated her to pursue her own dreams.

Do NOT watch this if you are working the next day. You won’t be able to stop drowning yourself in George’s cool charm, Elizabeth’s innocence, Arashi’s honesty and Miwako’s adolescences. Paradise Kiss should be banned for being so dangerously addictive. Everything Ristorante Paradiso is, Paradise Kiss is too. And I’m not just comparing them because of the slightly similar name. Elegant, stylish, romantically charming but with Paradise Kiss, you get more flair, energy and sensual. We are, after all, comparing old geezers to high-school students.

Blurring the lines between reality and dream. On one hand, we have the story of a girl facing her future, exams, parental pressure, things everyone encounters. On another hand, it shows what happens when one dream and dares to pursue. Hours really fly by with this series.

The storytelling pace for Caroline’s dilemma fit me to a tee in Paradise Kiss. Despite her character facing so many problems continuously, I did not felt suffocated. That’s because Paradise Kiss laid out the plot nicely. First they explored Caroline’s indecision with her future. Gave viewers an episode to get the idea into their head. Then they brought up the modeling issue. Then another episode. Then George. Etc. Get what I mean? Surprisingly I didn’t feel bored (which I normally would). I loved it!

The opening theme, Lonely in Gorgeous by Tommy february6, is absolutely a perfect match for the anime. The closing theme is good too. It’s just I’ve listen to Franz Ferdinand so many times in the past I got bored.

Although understandable, I still wished the spotlight coulhd have shifted around more between Arashi, Miwako and Elizabeth instead of being so focused on Geaorge. Hmm… Talking about George, as cool as he may be, he is pretty much on my hate-list for making the ladies around him cry all the time. Especially Caroline. Well… At least he was faithful to Caroline (I think).

In the end, I’m glad there’s only 13 episodes cause I would not be able to bare the constant pain whenever George and Caroline fights.

Ok then, going to end this post, hit the sack. And try (very hard) to fall asleep and just hope for a dream as rich as Paradise Kiss is.

As you would pretty much guess by my crazy amount of posts this past 3 days, I was bored. Wanting to fully rest for this 3 days of holiday, I rejected all invitations to go hang out with friends a.k.a. Hikkimori Mode-O.
Among dwelling in animes, I also started to enter the mindset of a Vocaloid fan. Surfing around vocaloid resources one after another.

Did you know that Hatsune Miku had a "Live" concert to commemorate her 2nd anniversary not long ago? Called the MikuFes09 (I think -.-")

First off, that IS the title of the movie. Lol! Which will translate to Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshirô. Second, Only one word need be used to describe this movie. G.A.R!

Only Kenshiro is GAR-worthy to be my very first male character wallpaper. ONLY Kenshiro! With his GAR clothing, GAR muscles, GAR martial arts, Freaking GAR eyebrows! Even the picture drama at the end of the movie was GAR. 5-GAR-GAR-GAR-GAR-GAR-Stars. I dare say that even if every character in Tengen Toupa Gurren Lagann and Sengoku Basara combined, they would not match the manliness brought about by Kenshiro's single spit! You honestly don't know the meaning of GAR until you watched a Hokuto no Ken movie. Especially THIS movie!

Gar has NEVER felt so good!

Samurai Champloo

The two contrasting samurai warriors are far from friends, yet their separate paths seem to cross anyways. Mugen is wandering aimlessly through the city when he stumbles upon a teahouse where he meets Jin and Fuu (A ditzy waitress, but don‘t think she doesn‘t have anything hidden up her sleeves). Fuu convinces them both to come with her in search of a mysterious samurai that smells like sunflowers and their journey begins. This modernized hip-hop tale breaks the barriers of the common, historical, samurai anime.

Hmm… Really bring about mixes feelings on this one when starting this series. It’s been a long time since I reviewed an anime that doesn’t come with school girls. Lol! Refreshing indeed. Samurai Champloo is really unique in how it rewinds and fast forwards, jumping around scenes which may or may not be related -.-“ Have yet to come across an anime which does this so extravagantly.

You have Mugen, the afro haired dude, cutting through whatever he wants, whenever he wants. Always eager to battle strong opponents to test his skills. Wielding a wild style consisting of leg work and using flair to jump around anything in a quick counter-attack.

Then you have Jin, the pretty boy of the anime. The traditionalist yet stunningly old fashioned conservative. gives the obvious impression as someone who does everything by the book yet knows how to bend the rules whenever required. A little stiff at times but still cool nonetheless.

And Fuu. Who is suppose to be the x-factor of the trio. Being unpredictable and bringing comedy and fun to the combi…

Hmmm… I’m writing about the characters in Samurai Champloo. I hate writing about character in my reviews. It normally mean 2 things. 1st is that I either have no other idea on what to write on. 2nd is that I resent a certain character enough for me to spent a paragraph hating. One-two liners are fine by me though :p
Heck even the sypnosis in ANN is better than my review. Shit!

If anyone didn't enjoy even a single opening or closing theme from Samurai Champloo, they are retarded. Trust me...

Despite including clues and hints in every episode of the whereabouts of the sunflower samurai, certain fillers still felt redundant. I should list a few episodes as an example but I’ve already forgotten them. And I just finished Samurai Champloo today. That’s how meaningless they felt. With the exception of Sara’s mini arc which was great!

What I CANNOT forget, however, is the excellent ending. Blardy Hell! I love the ending! Every tough decision made, every action the characters took, every reaction which followed. Words were flying around in my room as I raised my voice at the monitor during the last 2 episodes
“Mugen’s gonna fark your arse”
“What the fark?!”
“Don’t do this man!” etc. etc.
Obviously I only listed spoiler free lines. Despite all the flashy effects, stylishly exaggerated (at times) fight scenes, viewers will be reminded every now and then that this is a matured series as heavy sacrifices are incorporated to the story throughout the series. Not heavy enough to to shed a tear on, but will still put weight on your chest. 4-splendidly-ended-Stars!

Finally got around to watching Negima!?, the remake of the original series, Negima!.
Oh Man! The graphics were on another level. It looked as though they cranked up the color output or saturation (or whatever jargon you use in the animation world) 200%. Flaunting their overly rich colors every single episode. And they were doing it in style!

Another thing about Negima!? was that everything other animes have, Negima!? has it better. A good example would be the action sequence. Not only were the fight scenes good, it actually provided a weird sense of satisfaction**. Character movements when exchanging blows were more fluid than Nanael’s milk itself.

It should even be a surprise that an anime of this genre was able to provide such good action. When was the last time you saw good action coming out from a magic + school life + lots of moe anime? Alright, Asura Cryin was good. But that doesn’t count, it had robots.

Being able to satisfy most anime fans makes Negima!? among the better of the rest. But it will not satisfy the demanding as it still packed a plot which lacked the intensity it needed to excel.

It is just not worth going through the series when there is only a handful of episodes worth watching. Even I have a limit on how much moe I can digest before getting bored. A perfect example of when an anime should go 13 eps and leave fans wanting more. Instead of going 26 and ultimately becomes boring. Though, this series could have been better enjoyed if spaced out between sessions. Maybe watching 3 to 4 episodes every now and then, so it doesn't get boring. Unfortunately, I'm not a patient man. :p

To end the review, I want to thank the anime gods for giving me the chance to watch Negima!? in my lifetime. I now truly believe that I have grasp the meaning of moe.
And as far as moe is concerned Negima!? > K-On and pretty much all others.
Simple, ask yourself if you rather have 4 moe-blobs or 31 moe-blobs? (33 if you count Negi’s sister and long time pal, Annier). Although, knowing most of Anime3R’s visitors, I’d say the majority of you will say “None”. Lol!

Meet Daisy. She's my new PC. Apparently she doesn't think much of me. Having just brought her home for 2 days. She has already shown me 3 bSoD's. And what had it cost me?

Oh... Nothing much. Just my Koukaku no Regios OST review I haven't post up (Sorry and thanks for your time zzero-sensei!), 2 weeks worth of anime character vectoring, and 3 other articles which were too retarded to be posted up anyway. Oh... Did I mention my WHOLE FREAKING ANIME3R BACKUP FILES TOO? Normally, I would be pissed. But I'm not. I tell myself I'm not. I believe I'm not therefore I AM NOT... pissed.

Anyway. I need something more solid for this SPAM post as to not deter potential future lurkers. So I'm gonna give you guys more SPAM about my figure-ing and some interesting links.

Meet the reason I started buying figures.

Yeap, it was Black Rock Shooter which I first came across at Anime Princess. I would link the post to show how Lostty slowly seaped the figure addiction to all who read her post. But I think it was lost with her last site revamp. By the time I decided to get BRS, orders were completely full. She has been my dream figure every since. Being the figure I will never be able to buy.

So, recently somehow or rather my usual figure source re-opened pre-orders for her. As what everyone says... Instant get. So I placed my order. Thing is, he mentioned he might not be able to get her for sure. Which is totally fine by me, no biggie. But if he does manage to get BRS for me (there are 22 other people fighting for her by the way) I'd be happy to call it quits to my figure collecting. FOr rEal. Lol! Been talking about it since a while anyway. So what better way to end it than to place the last order on my dream figure. -.-"

Heard of arancia project? I just did through arancia-project@polymetrica. Got pretty interested in it. So I thought I'd give it a go. All Hail Koukaku no Regios!
It has everything! Action, friendship, monsters, Romance, a bit of comedy. Only thing missing is robots. And everything it has, is done oh-so-adrenalin-pumping-excellent! Everything was good enough for me to overlook the slightly out-of-placed harem going on.

I was 3rd episode in, looked at the time… 11pm. Ok then! Already knew that this anime was going to keep me up all night. Time to redeem the countless hours I wasted sleeping.

During the start of the series...
1st episode - Turned off the lights. I only do this for the BEST animes mind you! I know it kills your eyes but Regios was freaking worth it!
2nd episode - Ran down quickly during the opening theme and grabbed as much snacks my hands allowed.
3rd episode - Searched for the soundtrack.
4th episode - Search for lots and lots of Regios wallpapers.
5th episode – Googled for Regios figures.
6th and onwards - Enjoyed as I drown myself in Regios ecstasy...

Things started to get twisted from episode 12 as plots build up. Hate to sound “unprofessional” but by then, I was too engrossed in Regios to bother about this review anymore. Stopped taking notes, threw the pen aside and was focused on this anime 120%. To illustrate a comparison on how incredible that is, I operate heavy machinery at work allocating only 60% of my brain power. Lol!

But to sum up the episodes, there were ups and downs. Still plenty of action and drama to boot; Keeping you on the edge of your seat. Either I have not seen animes of this genre for too long or Regios is really as great as I felt it to be.

I absolutely love the ending theme, Yasashii Uso by Chrome Shelled. At time of writing this review, I would have listened to it 43 times. By the end of this review, I expect the number to turn 50 61, not including the times I’ve listened to it watching the anime. Seeing how it is the ONLY song in my playlist for now. Very seldom do I actually sit through the same themes every episode or even played the anime just to skip to the ending theme. Regios has got me playing it over and over and over and over again. Well, that is until I downloaded the Single album for Yasahii Uso.

Every now and then, I keep thinking if Regios could have reached Macross Frontier standards romance wise if it killed the moe. That would have give the romance and harem plot a sense of realism. I’m not saying it isn’t as good as Macross Frontier; just that Macross Frontier feels more matured possibly targeting the audience of a higher age group. But in its own right, Regios is really just as amazing. Talking about realisem, I love how they didn’t portray the lead Layfon as the invincible warrior that he is, and instead will still tire and needs the help of his teammates in taking down stronger opponents.

There were some inconsistencies through out the course of the anime. During the inter platoon matches, there were numerous strong platoons, with experienced veterans, “honorable” and powerful military artists (Regios’s fancy name for soldiers, or at some point, cannon fodder). Then when the polluted beasts were invading, where the fark did everyone go? The only platoon I recognize was the one Layfon was in, the 17th Platoon.

Another inconsistency is that when Layfon went outside of the city’s protection dome. The polluted environment was shown to be hazardous enough to be able to slowly disintegrate Layfon’s clothing. But few episodes after that, Felli can travel outside in a freaking miniskirt?! WtF?! Oh by the way, Felli is the character in Regios who proves that a loli CAN be tsundere at the same time! :p

Remember coming across a chat about it a while ago asking if a loli can be a tsundere at the same time. Forgot where though. -.-“

I like how it gives off the illusion of the character’s age based on viewers’ preferences. It constantly uses words like study, exams, academic, classes, etc. which explains that the characters are still studying but that’s it. They never indicated the level of study. So viewers can simply imagine that the characters are indeed middle schooled or high schooled or whatever they prefer. From mid school all the way to university.

But as you watched on, there is not a single scene of the characters attending class at all. All I see are buildings which might very well be barracks instead and this could then easily pass of the idea that the characters are adult aged instead. Call me over-analytic but I think this was done with the intention of allowing viewers to determine or set an age group to the characters for themselves, according to their personal preference.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN REGIOS STAY THE F AWAY FROM THE FOLLOWING LINK AND WATCH THE ANIME FIRST! IT IS JUST TOTALLY FREAKING WORTH IT!
Minor ending impression

This is a first for me when I say this but I totally enjoyed every single character in Regios. EVERYONE! They were so in role, no one felt out of place at all. Heck! I even loved the swans.

Anyone ever wondered why the city Grendan is so strong?
No… Not because it’s a Chrome Shelled City or whatever. It’s because it is the one city which bothered to keep their elders around. Did you notice that there were no aged citizens at all at Zuellni and Myarth? Even for an academic city?!

Anyone see's Miku-lookalike?

Personally, I like Nina just as much as Felli… Wait! Leerin ain’t half bad too… o_0! I just had a revelation! Regios is my tsundere haven! Probably explains why I love it so much. :p

Now if someone is willing to explain to me why Data Chips are so expensive… Kanshasheteh. Oh, and also how the black and white scenes tie up with the main story going on in Regios, Oh! And who the fark Ignasious is. Oh and where is the mentioned Zero Dimension. Oh and what the fark is a Dying Slave. Oh and who the fark is Dixerio too. And the Masked Wolf gang. What about the Rigzario Belief?
Lol! I have never enjoyed such a confusing anime before! For the first time, I didn't mind being totally lost to what the heck they were talking about. 5 ULTIMATE MIND-BLOWING STARS!

So... Having finished Koukaku no Regios I started having the blues. The blues of missing the anime. And the blues for something fresh. I do get bored easily after all.

With this post, I am gonna take Anime3R down for a short period. Will probably take about 3 days or 5 days at most, but will be back up by then.

When I was on a speedboat traveling back from the Island trip. This song just popped into my head. I have nooooo freaking idea why.

Then everything came back to me. How I loved Gungrave. How I hated that the series ended and left me wanting more. And how everyone dies one by one as the anime nears it's end. -.-"
To the young me of that time, this anime was some heavy shit. From friendship to betrayal to love.

Among the highlights of Gungrave to me was definitely it's ending. I don't know the reason why it's not in my mp3 list then... Well, it is now. ;)

His family's bath house has closed and been torn down, and Arumi's family is moving to Hokkaido - and taking her with them. In the midst of all this, something happens to the framework of reality, and Sasshi and Arumi slip into a weird parallel world. It's still Abenobashi, but not their Abenobashi. Strange things are afoot, and Sasshi must find out their meaning, in order to reach a goal that he barely understands.

This show is a freaking riot! I was laughing so loud I woke my sister in the next room in some episodes.

Dynamic drawing makes sure you never get bored. And when I say dynamic, I actually mean characters with a million faces and a whole bunch of animation style which just keeps coming and coming. The parodies of other animes or movies in Abenobashi were strong, plentiful and pure laughter. Abenobashi practically defines randomness, from robot themes to Kenshiro the Nine-star-North-fist guy to Dungeons and Dragons, this anime has it all.

I love Arumi’s voice, especially her slang. While every now and then, the narrations felt like they did it freestyle; full of vibrant energy.

Although there are some naked butt scenes of Arumi and a whole lot of “boings” from other characters, this is by no means hentai. Heck! I even thought it was a children’s show at some point when I started this series. Of course, that thought changed when I notice more and more of Arumi's flashes.

I’m very surprised at the fact that I’ve never came across or heard of this anime before, seeing how hilarious this series is. But then again, this is from 2002.

Sasshi and Arumi is now among the top comedy duo/group anime characters in my book. Somewhere just above the Hyakko gang.

Watch the green diagram of the robot's autonomy or something. Notice anything? Lol!

1st episode was a great opener, with really random scenes and charater built up. The first half of episode 1 definitely had me fooled as it brought about a serious atmosphere to the series. Really didn't expect it to be a comedy initially. And just to let you know beforehand, characters are only introduced in the first episode (with the exception of Mune-Mune-san and Goblin). By the end of episode 1, character development had completely stop and the plot starts rolling as Sasshi and Arumi are teleported to weird worlds one after another.

Things slowed down quite a bit in episode 5 and 6. Then episode 7 came and finally viewers get to explore the history and the reasons behind all the teleportation. From then on it was one part comedy, one part explanation. It’s supposed to have explained everything by the end of the series, but I still haven’t piece it together yet. -.-"

No Pandas were harmed in the making of this anime

If Detroit Metal City rocked for you, then Abenobashi is definitely not far from the pond. Despite Abenobashi Mahou Shotengai having a super start, it did get a little boring midway and the ending way overplayed on parodies. So much so that I decided to drop it from a full 5 to a very satisfying 4-Stars.

I'm back! Was back since Monday night actually, but loads of sunburn convinced me I needed to lie on the bed with minimal movement while I shed skin. Lol.

Feeling that Figma's Kagami "Miku" never got enough love for a while now, I decided to bring her along for the trip. Initially I thought of bringing Revoltech's Patlabor Alfonso along, and the idea of Figma's Koizumi scheel uniform crossed my head too, but both would feel a little out-of-place. So in the end, decided to stick with Kagami.
